This training course aims to give trainees the knowledge, understanding and basic skills required for the safe operation of low level pallet trucks fitted with a ride-on platform. It introduces trainees to manoeuvring the equipment in confined areas, travelling both laden and unladen, and handling palletised loads safely and efficiently within the workplace. Trainees will cover daily pre-use inspections, safe use of the ride-on platform, load handling techniques, and the hazards and risks associated with low level pallet truck operations, including pedestrian interaction, visibility, stability, and operating within busy workplace environments. The course also includes safe systems of work and compliance with relevant health and safety legislation. The length of training may vary depending on the objectives covered, the ratio of trainee to instructor, and the ability and previous experience of the trainees. The delivery of training includes a combination of theoretical instruction and practical exercises.
